Two artists are now confirmed for this year Festival: Noel Gallagher and his new project “Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds"
and one of Germany’s biggest names, Herbert Grönemeyer.

Tickets for these events are on sale from Thursday, March 22nd, 10 am on montreuxjazzfestival.com

The rest of the line-up will be announced on April 19 at the press conference.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds: a first solo tour

Following the release of his self-titled album “Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds” in October 2011, which has already sold over 750,000 copies, Oasis’s former guitarist embarked on his world tour and will make a stopover in Montreux.

Noel Gallagher will blaze the Auditorium Stravinski with, among other tracks, his single “AKA…What A Life”, which earned him a BRIT award nomination in the category of “Best British solo artist”. In the U.K., Europe, Japan as well as in USA and South America, many of his dates have already sold out. He presents his album as the fruit of spontaneous and free collaboration. Says Gallagher: “Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is me and whoever is around at the time of whatever it is that I’m doing, a loose collective kinda thing”.

Gallagher whipped the crowd into a frenzy with the legendary Oasis. With eight albums and countless hits, the British band’s reputation precedes it. In his first solo album, he opts for themes that are dear to him such as day-to-day beauty, the desire to escape, or even youthful love.

During the performance, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will expertly marry songs from the new album with a selection of Oasis classics.

Herbert Grönemeyer back to Montreux

Herbert Grönemeyer returns to the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 14. After a concert in 2003 at the Auditorium Stravinski, the German singer will present his latest album on the same stage.

With the massive success of his album “Schiffsverkehr” in Germany, meaning “maritime traffic” in English, Herbert Grönemeyer continues his European tour and will make a stop on the shores of Lake Geneva. Throughout the years, his music that subtly combines classical, rock and modern contemporary continues to pull his audiences’ heart strings.

For several decades, Herbert Grönemeyer has been one of the most popular singer-songwriters in Germany. He is known for his varied style that blends a rich lyric with eclectic sounds. His lyrics often refer to personal experience (his best-known song “Bochum”, for instance, pays homage to the town where he grew up) and this time Herbert Grönemeyer uses as inspiration his passion for the sea.

The audience will enjoy the songs’ uplifting sonorities with an album that returns to the artist’s roots: German rock. His lyrics are poignant – at times painful – and Herbert Grönemeyer’s stage presence provides a wonderful musical moment.

This evening will be openned by the German band Lilabungalow.
