Born in Switzerland with a dual Vietnamese culture, Ngoc Lan began her musical journey as a child, taking piano and opera lessons at the Conservatoire de Musique. Her move to New York in 2002 proved to be a turning point: Ngoc Lan worked for several months with the famous hip-hop label Rawkus, rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest beatmakers and rappers on the east-coast scene. Back in Switzerland, she acquired new weapons: two turntables, a mixer and a vinyl collection. Hip hop, beats, house, electronica: a broad, cutting-edge palette reflecting her already highly developed musical culture.
In 2010, Ngoc Lan took third place at the Red Bull Thre3Style Switzerland in the “Best Party Rocker” category. With over fifteen years’ experience, including appearances at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Henz Club in Seoul, the Worldwide Festival in Leysin and the Mellotron in Paris, Ngoc Lan has been on Couleur 3 since September 2017 with Astrolab.
Acclaimed by her peers, she was selected in 2016 at the Swiss Nightlife Awards in the top 3 of the “Best Open Format DJ” category, and in March 2018 was part of the Demotape Clinic jury for the M4Music Festival in Zürich.
